May Fair at Ding Dong!

Well, May Fair at Ding Dong has grown beyond its 1–7pm timeframe, to more like 1pm–midnight, but the vendor tables will likely be up just in the daytime zone. These fantastic tables include the Armenian Poetry Project, Fiction Circus, Fractious Press, ILOANbooks, Kaya Press, Kurt Boone Books, LATR Editions, Louffa Press, The March Fourth!, Mildred Pierce Zine, Rebecca Migdal, Strangers Gate Books, World War 3 Illustrated, and more being added every moment. There will also be a cookie table to offset the cost of putting on this event, so it can continue each year. Mmmm, cookies.

This weekend, in between confirming the schedule (to be posted imminently), we ordered battery-operated lamps to illuminate the tables in the middle of the dark Ding Dong Lounge, and bought a crapload of cookie-making supplies.

Join us as we transform Ding Dong Lounge into NYC's best and only ephemeral bookshop/crafts fair/art gallery/speakeasy/underground music venue/inappropriately timed christmas party for an entire afternoon. Admission is totally free (though we appreciate any donations made at the door!).

We're back! This year's lit/music free-for-all at the Ding Dong Lounge will take place on Saturday, May 7, 2011, from 1 to 7pm, with vendor tables, performances, and sweet treats. Email info@fractiouspress.com for info and/or to reserve a table ($15).

Thanks to everyone who helped make May Day at Ding Dong a lot of fun! To the readers, performers, vendors, artists, friends & neighbors, organizers, the Ding Dong Lounge and also the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council: we thank you with the warmest of hearts!!

Although the word "epic" was used to describe Saturday's turnout and general good vibes, we're boldly looking forward to more (possibly even more epic?!) uptown fairs in the future! Check back for new events!

Dear Friends of the Uptown Zine Shindig:

We're organizing another uptown zine and small press fair! May Day at Ding Dong will be held on May 1, 2010 from 1pm to 7pm at Ding Dong Lounge, 929 Columbus Avenue (between 105th and 106th).
This fair has a few different goals, so if your heart doesn't flutter at the word "zine," worry not:

- bringing together writers and illustrators of zines, books and other fine literary and artistic creations to share ideas and wares
- providing a forum for writers, artists and performers to present their work to the public
- gathering this community in upper Manhattan in order to serve a neighborhood that rarely sees the likes of zine and small fairs
- raising funds for future iterations of this fair through the sale of event-specific artwork (tshirts! posters!)

So, in short, this will be a fun day and we hope to see you! If you have questions, email dingdongtables at gmail and we'll write back!
